The Joy Football Style Line Oiler is a specialized lubricator designed for efficient and controlled lubrication of rock drills and other pneumatic tools in mining and construction operations.

  • Design:  The lubricator has a capacity of 1.5 pints (0.71 liters) and is constructed from rugged malleable steel, ensuring durability and resistance to wear.  It features a wide throat filler for easy and quick filling with rock drill grease or oil.  The weighted sipper nozzle rotates around the bore pipe, ensuring that the nozzle intake remains at maximum depth to empty all of the contents of the lubricator reservoir.  The unique rotating nozzle adjusts from a low flow rate to a high flow rate of lubricant with a simple twist, allowing for precise control over lubrication.  A straight-through bore design allows for maximum air flow with minimal air line pressure drop, enhancing the efficiency of the lubrication process.
  • Applications:  The Joy Football Style Line Oiler is primarily used in underground mining operations and construction sites to:
    • Provide essential inline lubrication to rock drills and pneumatic tools, reducing wear and extending their service life.
    • Ensure consistent and controlled delivery of lubricant, which is crucial for maintaining the performance and reliability of drilling equipment.
  • Materials:
    • The main body of the oiler is made from malleable steel, which provides strength and durability while being resistant to wear and impact from the demanding conditions where it’s used. Malleable steel is ideal for withstanding the forces exerted during operations like rock drilling.
    • Internal components such as nozzles, seals, or valves may be made from copper alloys or bronze. These materials are known for their corrosion resistance and ability to withstand exposure to lubricants and oils over time.
    • Rubber or elastomer seals are used to prevent leakage and ensure airtight and watertight seals within the oiler, especially where moving parts come into contact with fluids. These seals ensure the lubricator maintains proper pressure and flow control.
    • Steel springs are likely used in the internal mechanism to control the flow of lubricant, ensuring that the oiler delivers the correct amount of oil or grease under varying pressure conditions.
